THE DRAGON'S CHALLENGE JUDGING SYSTEM

This is a 'NEW' format of judging with the emphasis of a fair and equal playing field for all styles of forms to highlight the Martial Arts elements of the form. It also provides the correct regulations of competition for TV broadcast, therefore providing a platform for forms athletes (no matter style) to gain media support and to profile their sport and individual and diverse abilities.

Whether the 3 tier or 5 tier judging panel is in place, the criteria remains the same. EACH Judge has an single area of performance that he/she focuses and scores on. Once the individual scores are presented at the end of the form by the judges the scores are totalled to give the final mark.

** Placing draw scores ** If in any 1st, 2nd or 3rd placing scores are drawn at the end of a division then the elimination of score process is as follows:

1. The highest individual judge score is taken away and the remaining score is totalled.

2. If the score remains a draw from 1. then the highest score is returned and the lowest score is taken away and the total score is now calculated.

3. If the score remains draw after steps 1 and 2, then all scores are eliminated and the athletes in draw are requested to perform the form once again, once all forms are completed the judging panel will point to their choice of winner.

Overview of 3 Tier Judging:

1. Stance Score -- Includes Stance in position, transition in to stance, strength of stance, stance combination

2. Demonstration of Art Score -- Power, Grace and Correct technique of the technical understanding that clearly defines the system of martial art and the application

3. Performance Score -- Form performance score from an entertainment view of the form

Overview of 5 Tier Judging:

(As above with 1st three scoring marks with two additional marks)

4. Difficulty Score -- An overall score of the difficulty of the form, such as the combination of level of fitness, sharpness, advanced technique and transition, performance of technique etc

5. Etiquette Score -- This includes dress code representing the art, etiquette on the mat, bow/attitude of the athlete, presentation of martial art discipline and etiquette etc

** IMPORTANT DRESS CODE **
